Ethylene Oxide

Heat illness

Heat illness or heat-related illness is a spectrum of disorders due to environmental exposure to heat. Hexavalent chromium

Hexavalent chromium may be used as pigments in dyes, paints, inks, and plastics. It also may be used as an anticorrosive agent added to paints, primers, and other surface coatings, such as electroplate chromium onto metal parts to provide a decorative or protective coating. Adverse health effects from hexavalent chromium exposure include nasal and sinus cancers, kidney and liver damage, nasal and skin irritation and ulceration, eye irritation and damage. Lead in construction

Exposure to lead dust or fume may cause headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal spasms, fatigue, sleep disturbances, weight loss, anemia, and pain in legs, arms, and joints. An intense, short-term exposure to lead could cause acute encephalopathy with seizures, coma, and death. Completion of this course fulfills the training requirements of Lead in Construction, WAC Chapter 296-155-176.

Noise audits

Exposure to high levels of noise can cause permanent hearing loss. Neither surgery nor a hearing aid can help correct this type of hearing loss. Short term exposure to loud noise can also cause a temporary change in hearing, such as a stuffy feeling or a ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
