Email Freeletics Training Guide

For today’s post, I’d like to introduce my experience using Freeletics’ Meal Plan. Bear in mind I opted for the weight loss program, so my review will highlight my experience using this particular option. Plus, bear in mind I’ve been using the app for 36 hours now! So wait for next week’s review to have a more complete picture on my journey! I hope you find this post helpful!

Workout Review: Freeletics As I’ve previously written, boosting your level of physical fitness can improve your relationship for a number of reasons. Most men are in complete agreement but when you’re out of shape and more than a few pounds overweight, settling on a good workout program can be a challenge. Every year the fitness industry pockets billions of dollars — over 78 billion in.

What to expect?

The meal plan is divided between 3 or 4 meals, namely breakfast, lunch, dinner and sometimes a snack. In the weight-loss option, I got a mid-morning snack on my first day, but it’s not a daily thing. Each meal is usually between 450 and 550 kcal and the exact amount of fats, carbs and protein are listed above the ingredients. For each meal, I get to choose from three recipe options. Each “meal series” has a name, such as OPES, or IMPLEO. It’s of course a nice reminder for Freeletics workout series taxonomy. Good job, Freeletics! You can log in the meal you had in the interface really easily to give you (and them :D) the ability to track your record.

Every meal series are listed in a menu of the app. Like this, I found out that within OPES or IMPLEO, there are much more than just 3 meals, but more like 7 or 8 meals. Probably for the meat-eating, or muscle gaining folks out there. However, it’s a cool way to browse in the app and see what Freeletics is capable of! I like that you’re not confined to seeing nothing else but your own tailored meal plan. It definitely brings the app to life.

What I like

Feeling in control – I love the idea that I’m free to choose what I’d like to eat. I feel in control of my own nutrition after all.

The taste – The meals so far have been incredibly tasty and simple to make, good job freeletics! In the OPES series, for instance, I could pick from Smoked Salmon with Lemon Veggies”; “Quick Zucchini and Parmesan Hash”; or “Apple and Nuts Quark. Various cooking techniques are used, such as baking, frying, or mixing smoothies… love it so far!

Log in your workout & get rewarded – Another cool feature is that you can log in your work out in a very simple way, compared to much more detailed apps such as MyFitnessPal / Runtastic. In the Freeletics Nutrition app, you’ve got three options: it’s either you’ve done strength, endurance or team sports training. Then, you log in your work out time. In my case, I went for a 50 min run yesterday and as I was entering it in my app, I was “granted” a protein-packed post-workout snack. Sweet!

What I like less and suggestion for improvement

In one sentence – the app is not user friendly when it comes to planning your meals

Only available when online – Not everything is rosy, though, right? I found out the hard way that the recipes are only available when connected to the internet. I was in the supermarket, getting the ingredients for the next two days of the Freeletics Nutrition Plan, in short FNP. My supermarket has a really shitty 3G connection the deeper you get into the store, and I couldn’t see the food ingredients anymore I need for the next 3 days. It seems like a solvable issue, I can hear my mom saying “Make a list before going to the store, Maajke!” YES, but it’s still quite annoying.

No in-app shopping list – What could be done to account for my first dislike is to have a shopping list based on the meals I save in the app. Say I pick for meal 1, option 2; for meal 2, option 1; for meal 3, option 2, etc… and this would be translated into a summary ingredient list for an easy shopping experience! After the first supermarket fail, I’m switching between the app and my grocery list app. It’s day 1 and it’s already annoying me.
